About the Area
Here are some links to the places we think maybe of of interest in the local area.

LOOSE REINS
We have some of the most beautiful western riding trails around. Loose Reins lies against the foothills of the Wessex Ridgeway in the heart of the beautiful Blackmore Vale in Dorset and we’re surrounded by the best views you can imagine. If the quarter horse or saddle is not for you we’ve got rural crafts, cycling, walking and many other opportunities to help you unwind. BUSHES FARM CARAVAN PARK
We are a small family run caravan and camping site situated in some of North Dorset’s most beautiful countryside. The campsite is based in the woodland on our working farm, with plenty of nooks and crannies to hide away between bushes and trees. With an abundance of wildlife and spectacular views, Bushes Farm Caravan Park is the perfect place to hide away from the outside world.

The Royal Signals Museum
Based in Blandford Camp, the Museum offers the unique experience to “rub shoulders” with serving soldiers and after two successful lottery bids the exhibitions are modern, high tech and interactive. Visitors can drive an armoured vehicle through a virtual landscape, guide a laser beam, “direction find” the enemy, set up a satellite network, learn about encryption and practice Morse code.

Gorcombe Extreme Sports
With outdoor activities to suit all ages, Gorcombe Extreme Sports is the ideal recreational facility for a great day out. Established in the grounds of Gorcombe Farm over 20 years ago, we have created the perfect activity centre providing a safe environment allowing you to be adrenaline-seeking or as relaxed as you like. Choose from archery, quad biking, paintballing, clay shooting, dirt buggies, zorbing or just relax in the pool and jacuzzi.
North Dorset Trailway
This walking, cycling and horse riding route runs along the route of the old Somerset and Dorset Railway line and takes you through some picturesque villages of the Blackmore vale. The old railway line closed to rail traffic in 1966 provides an ideal route for a Trailway as it links many of North Dorset’s towns and villages. The largest section provides a continuous route between Blandford and Sturminster Newton passing through Stourpaine – a distance of 9 miles – which takes you through some of North Dorset’s spectacular countryside, towns and villages with views of Hambledon and Hod Hill and the meandering River Stour.
